Lisa VanDamme’s Read With Me: A Chapter a Day of Les Misérables

by | Jan 8, 2021 | Announcements

The always thoughtful and fabulous, Lisa VanDamme, has kicked off 2021 with a new Read With Me course. This is how Lisa describes it:

“This year, I am leading a group of readers in a chapter-a-day reading of Victor Hugo’s great masterpiece Les Misérables. It is a commitment of about fifteen minutes a day that brings lasting and life-altering benefits. Every day, I spend a little time in Hugo’s universe, with its grandeur of spirit, reverence for the human potential, and deep sense of humanity. Every day, I get to spend my time on Facebook reflecting on the novel’s beauty and relishing its words with friends around the world. It is daily pleasure, and a simple investment in spiritual health.”

Here is what others have to say about it:

“I have lived in Hugo’s world for a month. I have never lived in it for a year.”

“I’m in it to get a glimpse of beauty every day as routine…as a reminder that that beauty is the standard I hold for life and depravity is the exception.”

“I’m working to surround myself with value, beauty, and goodness for my mental health and happiness.”

“It’s the joy of looking through a microscope at a fascinating world that’s all too easy to take for granted.”

“I am hopeful that the daily challenge will help me to cultivate a daily reading habit, which is one of my 2021 goals.”

“It’s just 15 to 20 minutes a day. I cannot pretend that I don’t have that much time. Hardly anyone on earth can.”

“I find myself with unparalleled focus when I read chapter a day.”

“Nothing has encouraged me to try harder to be a better person as much as reading a chapter of this book each morning.”
